Michael Brook began his studies at the age of 4 in his home state of Louisiana. At age 7 he won his first concerto competition for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition. He also participated in the Ithaca Suzuki Summer Program and studied chamber music at the Yellow Barn Young Artist Program. During his Bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University, he studied under Espen Lillenslatten, Kevork Mardirossian, Borislava Illcheva, and Matthew Daline. At that time Michael won the Sidney M. Blitzer Award in the Louisiana State University Concerto Competition. In 2009 Michael served as Associate Principal second violin in the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, in addition to playing section violin with the BRSO, Acadiana Symphony, Gulf Coast Symphony, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. While at the University of Colorado Boulder, he completed his Dual Masters Degree in Violin and Viola Performance studying under Lina Bahn, Erika Eckert, and Andrés Cárdenes. In 2012, Michael was invited to compete in the Joseph Szigeti International Violin and Viola Competition, and currently competes in numerous other international competitions. Michael now performs with the Coloardo Ballet, Opera Colorado, Boulder Bach Festival, Assistant Principal of the Boulder Philharmonic , and Assistant Concertmaster of the Longmont Symphony.
